Myofascial Release (MFR)

Fascia is a tough connective tissue that binds, surrounds, connects and envelops the entire body, encompassing it like a 3-dimensional spider web. When such things as trauma, incorrect posture, or inflammation occur, this can result in extreme pressure on muscles, nerves, blood vessels, joints, and organs; thereby producing symptoms of pain, headaches, and restriction of motion. When the fascial restrictions are released, all systems of the body become more fluid and the body is free to move again more efficiently with decreased pain.

Myofascial Release is a hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure on the skin into the muscle and fascial restrictions to free the area of immobility, thus restoring balance and harmony to the area. This return to balance can eliminate pain, restore range of motion and ease of movement.

Since these areas of restriction can cause pain and dysfunction and are not identified through any mechanical testing procedures, the client can often be frustrated with a lack of definitive diagnosis. Using MFR one can identify and treat these areas of restriction throughout the body, thus enabling the client’s body to return to a more fulfilling life, with less pain and more energy.
